Well that was unexpected
Well, although I find Hanna disgusting because she has sex constantly with a fifteen year old, TWENTY ONE YEARS YOUNGER THAN HER, I did NOT expect for her past to include her being a prison guard at the Nazi concentration camps. When I read that, my jaw literally dropped. I could see how she would be a good person to work at the camps because or her authoritative and dominant personality, but it is still not something I expected to just spring out from her past. It really bothers me when she refers to Michael as "kid", because that only emphasizes more how much younger than her he really is. When I found out she is illiterate, I connected it to ignorance. I believe her ignorance is what blinds her from the fact that Michael is twenty one years YOUNGER than her. I still can't accept that in my head, I just find it gross. When I found out she was illiterate, though, I felt a little bad for her. The reason why is because at the age of 36 she still has to have someone -- Michael -- read to her and she pretended she liked it just to hide the shame of being illiterate. I'm curious to see what's going to happen next. I'm still in shock she was a guard.
