The
beginning of part two was so different from part one that I was a little thrown
off but I got used to it and got super into it.
I can’t believe that Hanna was one of the guards at a concentration
camp!!! Now I understand why when she told Michal her life story, it sounded
kind of sketchy. She was not telling
Michael the truth because she never mentioned that she was a guard! At first I did not understand why she was
making herself look so bad at court. It
looked like she was trying to get accused of being guilty for killing those
women stuck in the fire. When Michael
found out that Hanna was illiterate everything was put together.
Now I understand why she wanted
Michael and weak girls at the camp to read to her. She pretended that she liked it but she
actually cannot read herself and likes hearing stories. It also makes sense why Michael planned their
whole vacation back when he was fifteen and she was thirty-six. I found it weird why the 15 year old was
planning the trip and not the 36 year old who had much more experience in going
on trips without her parents. It also makes sense why she
pretended to be pissed when she “never saw” Michael’s note when he went to get
breakfast for her. She saw it but got
scared because she couldn’t understand it so made it a big deal that she never
saw it. I think Hanna acts all independent
and superior so people will never find out her secret. By her attitude it is not clear at all that
Hanna cannot read or write. She acts so
superior and better than everyone when really she has this big weakness that
makes her not as strong as the rest.
