Hmm

            As I tried to read the first twenty-five pages in school I realized that I could not do it. Within the first twenty-five pages Hanna is already dominating Michael! I was not expecting it to be so soon. This book tells of an unconventional love affair between a thirty six year old woman and a fifteen-year-old boy. It really is kind of weird to me how this woman can be so attracted to a child.

            The way that this novel begins is very dark. Michael is very ill and the person that saves him is Hanna. Once he goes back to visit Hanna his love for her begins. He sees her getting dressed and that is the first way that he becomes sexually attracted to him. As she bathes him and makes love to him, she also realizes that one thing she really loves about him is when he reads to her. This makes me believe that she is an illiterate woman who gets joy by having others read to her. Michael is so infatuated by the idea of her and the way she makes him feel, that he completely falls in love with her. He even takes a vacation with her! What is even weirder to me, is that they are both completely ok with saying that they are mother and son! That is just so strange to me!

            Their relationship is weird because Hanna will sometimes get randomly upset with Michael for no reason what so ever. One example of this is when he goes to get breakfast and when he comes back she whips him with a belt. Even after she whips him they have sex! She is an abusive woman who has brainwashed Michael into loving her!

            I am really enjoying this book and seeing how this crazy relationship goes. As for now, she is gone, but I know that she will return. And when she does, everything is only going to get crazier.
